2nd term blog By:Diyar Wisam

Hello welcome to my blog today I will be talking about what I did in the 2nd term of AEP with miss Disa it will be short.

When I started my 2nd term I had to do warm up games before I start the lesson just like as usual, and I finished my past exercises and works. So when I finished my past exercise that I haven't finished because of the 1st final term break. So I finished my work and it was only 1 period. So on the 2nd day of 2nd term in AEP with miss Disa I got a warm up game and it took a whole 1 period and the warm up game that weve played me and Miss Disa was '' Squardle''. So we finished half of it, and then I got into my 2nd first term exercise not gonna lie but you can say 50/50 or you can say it's OK but, I' m not done with my exercise so I'll be finishing it by next week or on the 1st period of AEP on Monday.

Blog 1.6- BREAKKKKK!!- Naboni, Grade10

Firstly, I apologize for the delay in my post. The overwhelming workload of the final exams had me convinced that there were only five blogs to do, and I completely overlooked the fact that there was one more to go.

Now let's dive into what happened on the last week before finals. Wow, can you believe it? We are already done and dusted with finals! Time really does fly when you're having fun, or in this case, loaded with studies. Finally, it's over and now we can enjoy a long-term break. Hooray!

Monday morning was off to an exhilarating start as we entered our beloved AEP room. We immediately noticed that the SQUARDLE webpage was open on the smartphone, and we knew that we were in for a thrilling challenge. Our task was to find 73 words, and though it seemed daunting, we were up for the challenge. 15 of the words were already filled in, making the task somehow easier. With excitement and determination, we set out to find the remaining 58 words.

Next, we did vocals after so many days. We read an article on DOGONews that was titled "Adidas "Super Shoes" Help Tigist Assefa Shatter Women's Marathon World Record". It was the same as before. We each read one sentence and after reading we went around the room and stated a fact that was mentioned in the article. The article discusses how Adidas "Super Shoes" played a significant role in Tigist Assefa's world record-breaking women's marathon performance. The facinating thing about it is the price of the shoe. It's worth $500.

The next day consisted of only two periods. We started with Sqardle again, but this time we had to fill in only 22 words. Completing the task was relatively easy and took us less time. Afterward, we started working on our vocabulary in the same way as last time. Each of us was assigned some words that we had to find the meaning of using a dictionary. Later on, we took a quiz on the vocabulary webpage where we had to answer for the word that was assigned to us.

These vocabulary lessons have been incredibly helpful to me in many ways. In our English syllabus, we had to do narrative writing, and I found myself using a lot of the words I learned in these lessons during my exam. Moreover, I have noticed that some of these words have started to appear randomly in my everyday life. It's amazing how once you learn a new word, it seems to pop up everywhere.

Finally, we were tasked with writing another essay. This time, we had to write about the number of hours that young people in Chester spent engaging in different activities weekly between 2002 and 2007. When I first saw the graph, I was intimidated by the sheer number of bars present on it. My mind immediately convinced me that I would not be able to jot down anything coherent. At the end of the class, I managed to write down some of the most noticeable trends. Honestly, that was the toughest essay writing I have ever done. But phew, I ended up getting a 90% at last on the seatwork.

The rest of the classes before the finals just consisted of us playing contexto, unscrambling a scrambled essay, and our vocab quiz as well.  In our last class of AEP, we took our finals. We were informed that there would be three essays in total - two of them would be from the ones we practiced before, and one would be new. We just had to write one out of the two old essays. I was happy to see my favorite essay among them, which was about aquatic species. The new essay was not difficult to comprehend, as it was about comparing the drinks sold in two different cafes. We were given two periods to complete the two essays, so I was quite relaxed throughout.

That was all covered up of all the tasks we did before term 1 finished. The finals are over! However, the thought of my upcoming results is constantly on my mind and it's starting to make me anxious. Gotta enjoy the long break though! Goodbye tilll Term 2!

Blog 1.3 - “little weeny quizzy” - Huda G11

 3rd blog of the month!!!

These blogs are going out much faster than it did last year, it’s quite unfamiliar and also sometimes very easy to forget ehehe

But anyways, in our last lesson we continued with our game of diffle, the guess we’re sticking to one game these days as we would have usually changed games every lesson but I don’t mind. Diffle is quite fun and we managed to do it in a few guesses :D

We then moved on to reviewing on some words from last lesson that we defined before doing our very first quiz of the year. I thought that I would be fine and was slightly confident with the quiz…I was wrong T-T

Maybe I might earn 1 point with the word that I give out? Honestly I’m not quite sure as the moment I said the word, I somehow forgot the definition myself…🤦‍♀️ Getting back our books today so hopefully I get to see at least 5 right answers from the quiz eheheh

Ended off the class with a seat work so our lesson was very chill, for most of it. I’m starting to really like this topic as I feel that it will most definitely help me with my vocabulary throughout all my lesson. Especially, how most of the words we have learnt these past few weeks have been related to business which will aid me when writing texts for my ABM lessons.

Not sure when our next blogs will be coming out but I had fun writing this and hope to be writing more in the next few weeks.

Buhbyeee!

AEP Blog, The Threequel

22nd August 2023

Third blog incoming! These blogs have really racked my brain on the creative side when it comes to intros, haha. But anyway, on with the usual description of last week's lesson:

It's a little hazy to me, but one thing I do remember is having our quiz. Miss went around the class and gave each of us a turn to pick one of the three words we chose from the vocabulary list we were learning. We had to define and put that word into context, and despite how simple that task was, I barely knew or used any of the words before they were introduced so it was pretty difficult for me.

This was probably not the threequel you were hoping for (apologies if you were) because it, unfortunately, ends here. There isn't really anything else I remember about the last lesson so I'm not able to write as much. Thanks for reading though! :D

PS: Enjoy the usual cowboy kitty! :>

Blog 1.3 - 2nd Ring (Or is "2nd Circle" better??)

 THIRD BLOG RAAAHHHHHHHHHH

okay let's get this over with.

What did we do this week? Or, "day" I suppose, 'cause we only have one day for AEP nowadays.

Today was pretty simple all things considered. We mostly just did a bunch of seatwork to pass the time.

Of course, we first started with Diffle and it was finished quite fast (Miss complained but we're just too smart hehehehehe). Soon after, Miss had us write down three of our favorite words from last week's vocab activity. Both from the collocations and the ones we discussed in Miro. We then had a mini quiz where each of us picked one of our three words and said them to the class before writing them down on our notebooks and giving an example sentence.

It basically went like:

Adi: "Facilitate."

Everyone else: *writes down the word and sentence*

Adi: "Wait, what's facilitate again?"

I ended up looking through my notebook for the definition of that one :v

And then after the break, we had another seatwork.

Similar to the collocations one, we had to match up words to its following phrase. The last one was business-themed while this one was more... political? It was all about elections and voting and the constitution. It got me and Alisa thinking about Hamilton for real.

I finished that one pretty quickly and submitted my cutie patootie notebook with the cutie patootie stickers (I will be flexing them all day every day)

Anyways, anything I want to improve? Maybe learn to memorize the vocab better. I'll get into the habit of actually knowing the words and internalizing the definitions lol

That's all for now.

Thank you for reading!

Blog 1.2 | Alisa Tee | Grade 11

 An Unoriginal Title: Second Blog

15th August 2023

Second blog of term 1! It's a little odd to be writing a blog with such a short interval from the first one, haha. But I'll enjoy writing the weekly AEP reflections nonetheless. Since there isn't really much for me to say (and I've kind of forgotten what happened last lesson), expect this blog to be very short.

Anyway, I'll just start with a vague recap of what we did in our last lesson! We began with (of course) the usual morning icebreaker. This time it was Diffle -- which is basically Wordle except the word isn't limited to just five letters. After that, I believe we worked in our groups to finish up our vocabulary activity. Miss brought out a (the) wheel (of doom) with our vocabulary words on it and whichever word it landed on we had to define and put in context. I didn't get to speak much since I was in a group of three and I didn't really volunteer to speak (sorry guys! -~-''). It was a little nerve-racking to watch the wheel spin, but I guess it counted as good practice since I got to learn a few new words. After that, we were given a list of business terms that were separated into two -- which were mismatched. Our activity was, you guessed it, to rematch them back. Other than that, I don't think I can recall the class doing anything else after that (excluding Padlet obviously).

Unfortunately, I can't say I'm looking forward to our vocabulary quiz on the 16th of August since a lot of the words we covered are pretty new to me. But I'm hoping to learn what I don't know during the process. All in all, nervous about the vocab quiz, but still excited to learn new words. Thanks for taking the time to read this! :]

PS: Have a hungry cat in a cowboy hat while you're at it. ^^

Blog 1.2 - "Vocabulary is not my forte T-T" - Huda G11

 2nd blog of the year!

The days feel so much longer now that I'm in senior high. Everything feels so rushed for me and though I am able to keep up with my assignments, it just never felt that same as how it did last year. To make things simple...i'm just tired. T-T

In our last AEP class we started off with a familiar game called 'diffle' but this was only for warm up. We actually did it quite fast ahahah! We then moved on to organising and finishing off our miro boards filled with new words, well, new as in the word in a different context, that we had to find the meanings of and it in a 'sentence sandwich' to demonstrate how it's commonly used. Most of our words were related to the business lexical field.

To test ourselves, Ms Disa gave us a few minutes to look back on our words and try our best to memorise them and be able to explain its meaning and how it's used in sentences. To be truly honest,  I was panicking so much as memorising stuff is not really to my liking so I really needed more than just a few minutes. Thankfully, I had Ayesha and Alisa with me so I could somehow rely on them to explain the words that I struggled on explaining or understanding. Thank you girls hehehe <333

To end the class, we were given different words to pair up in order to form a collocation. It was extremely difficult for me as all the words seemed to go so well with each other. With many helps and hints from my classmates around me, I was able to complete the collocations though I am still not so confident with my answers as I may be getting one or two wrong. The definitions were quite a pain to write as some of them were long but I think it's good as I can always look back on the words and be able to understand a few and possibly use them in my writing as I am in the strand of ABM :D

My blog may be quite short but I truly hope that it was a good catch-up on what's been happening lately in my life :D

See you in the next one! <3
