Blog 1.3 - “little weeny quizzy” - Huda G11

 3rd blog of the month!!!

These blogs are going out much faster than it did last year, it’s quite unfamiliar and also sometimes very easy to forget ehehe

But anyways, in our last lesson we continued with our game of diffle, the guess we’re sticking to one game these days as we would have usually changed games every lesson but I don’t mind. Diffle is quite fun and we managed to do it in a few guesses :D

We then moved on to reviewing on some words from last lesson that we defined before doing our very first quiz of the year. I thought that I would be fine and was slightly confident with the quiz…I was wrong T-T

Maybe I might earn 1 point with the word that I give out? Honestly I’m not quite sure as the moment I said the word, I somehow forgot the definition myself…🤦‍♀️ Getting back our books today so hopefully I get to see at least 5 right answers from the quiz eheheh

Ended off the class with a seat work so our lesson was very chill, for most of it. I’m starting to really like this topic as I feel that it will most definitely help me with my vocabulary throughout all my lesson. Especially, how most of the words we have learnt these past few weeks have been related to business which will aid me when writing texts for my ABM lessons.

Not sure when our next blogs will be coming out but I had fun writing this and hope to be writing more in the next few weeks.

Buhbyeee!

AEP Blog, The Threequel

22nd August 2023

Third blog incoming! These blogs have really racked my brain on the creative side when it comes to intros, haha. But anyway, on with the usual description of last week's lesson:

It's a little hazy to me, but one thing I do remember is having our quiz. Miss went around the class and gave each of us a turn to pick one of the three words we chose from the vocabulary list we were learning. We had to define and put that word into context, and despite how simple that task was, I barely knew or used any of the words before they were introduced so it was pretty difficult for me.

This was probably not the threequel you were hoping for (apologies if you were) because it, unfortunately, ends here. There isn't really anything else I remember about the last lesson so I'm not able to write as much. Thanks for reading though! :D

PS: Enjoy the usual cowboy kitty! :>

Blog 1.3 - 2nd Ring (Or is "2nd Circle" better??)

 THIRD BLOG RAAAHHHHHHHHHH

okay let's get this over with.

What did we do this week? Or, "day" I suppose, 'cause we only have one day for AEP nowadays.

Today was pretty simple all things considered. We mostly just did a bunch of seatwork to pass the time.

Of course, we first started with Diffle and it was finished quite fast (Miss complained but we're just too smart hehehehehe). Soon after, Miss had us write down three of our favorite words from last week's vocab activity. Both from the collocations and the ones we discussed in Miro. We then had a mini quiz where each of us picked one of our three words and said them to the class before writing them down on our notebooks and giving an example sentence.

It basically went like:

Adi: "Facilitate."

Everyone else: *writes down the word and sentence*

Adi: "Wait, what's facilitate again?"

I ended up looking through my notebook for the definition of that one :v

And then after the break, we had another seatwork.

Similar to the collocations one, we had to match up words to its following phrase. The last one was business-themed while this one was more... political? It was all about elections and voting and the constitution. It got me and Alisa thinking about Hamilton for real.

I finished that one pretty quickly and submitted my cutie patootie notebook with the cutie patootie stickers (I will be flexing them all day every day)

Anyways, anything I want to improve? Maybe learn to memorize the vocab better. I'll get into the habit of actually knowing the words and internalizing the definitions lol

That's all for now.

Thank you for reading!

Blog 1.2 | Alisa Tee | Grade 11

 An Unoriginal Title: Second Blog

15th August 2023

Second blog of term 1! It's a little odd to be writing a blog with such a short interval from the first one, haha. But I'll enjoy writing the weekly AEP reflections nonetheless. Since there isn't really much for me to say (and I've kind of forgotten what happened last lesson), expect this blog to be very short.

Anyway, I'll just start with a vague recap of what we did in our last lesson! We began with (of course) the usual morning icebreaker. This time it was Diffle -- which is basically Wordle except the word isn't limited to just five letters. After that, I believe we worked in our groups to finish up our vocabulary activity. Miss brought out a (the) wheel (of doom) with our vocabulary words on it and whichever word it landed on we had to define and put in context. I didn't get to speak much since I was in a group of three and I didn't really volunteer to speak (sorry guys! -~-''). It was a little nerve-racking to watch the wheel spin, but I guess it counted as good practice since I got to learn a few new words. After that, we were given a list of business terms that were separated into two -- which were mismatched. Our activity was, you guessed it, to rematch them back. Other than that, I don't think I can recall the class doing anything else after that (excluding Padlet obviously).

Unfortunately, I can't say I'm looking forward to our vocabulary quiz on the 16th of August since a lot of the words we covered are pretty new to me. But I'm hoping to learn what I don't know during the process. All in all, nervous about the vocab quiz, but still excited to learn new words. Thanks for taking the time to read this! :]

PS: Have a hungry cat in a cowboy hat while you're at it. ^^

Blog 1.2 - "Vocabulary is not my forte T-T" - Huda G11

 2nd blog of the year!

The days feel so much longer now that I'm in senior high. Everything feels so rushed for me and though I am able to keep up with my assignments, it just never felt that same as how it did last year. To make things simple...i'm just tired. T-T

In our last AEP class we started off with a familiar game called 'diffle' but this was only for warm up. We actually did it quite fast ahahah! We then moved on to organising and finishing off our miro boards filled with new words, well, new as in the word in a different context, that we had to find the meanings of and it in a 'sentence sandwich' to demonstrate how it's commonly used. Most of our words were related to the business lexical field.

To test ourselves, Ms Disa gave us a few minutes to look back on our words and try our best to memorise them and be able to explain its meaning and how it's used in sentences. To be truly honest,  I was panicking so much as memorising stuff is not really to my liking so I really needed more than just a few minutes. Thankfully, I had Ayesha and Alisa with me so I could somehow rely on them to explain the words that I struggled on explaining or understanding. Thank you girls hehehe <333

To end the class, we were given different words to pair up in order to form a collocation. It was extremely difficult for me as all the words seemed to go so well with each other. With many helps and hints from my classmates around me, I was able to complete the collocations though I am still not so confident with my answers as I may be getting one or two wrong. The definitions were quite a pain to write as some of them were long but I think it's good as I can always look back on the words and be able to understand a few and possibly use them in my writing as I am in the strand of ABM :D

My blog may be quite short but I truly hope that it was a good catch-up on what's been happening lately in my life :D

See you in the next one! <3

Fahad's Amazing blog#2

Hi, it's me again and I hope ur doing well. In the 3rd week of aep, we managed to do quite a lot of stuff such as our usual routine of playing diffle every morning. To be honest, diffle has been quite challenging for me because the answer can be more than 5 words, which can get really confusing when you have letters all over the place, nonetheless, it's still a fun activity for your brain since it pushes the limits of your brain and tells it to think outside the box. to mention, we only have 2 periods of aep In 1 week so our time is usually limited and the numbers of activities which can be done is not a lot. After we had done the word game diffle, miss made us put words in  a spin of the wheel, the words came from the assignment she gave us in which we had to put the missing word in a blank, miss had assigned 5 sentences per group, I had gotten paired with my friend hakim, if the word you did was selected on the spin of the wheel, you had to define what it meant. After doing all those activities, we had around 20-25 minutes left so which then miss decided to give an activity in which we had words on the left side, and words on the right side, we had to match those words and after matching the words, we had to find the meaning of the words.Since we had run out of time, miss gave this as a homework.

Thank you for reading my blog.See ya!

Blog 1.2 - 1st Ring

Hi hii and welcome to another blog!!

I woke up late this morning (oopsie) so I had to do my makeup in a Starbucks bathroom, but besides that I had a pretty smooth-sailing morning. So what did we do on the second week? Firstly, we did another game for warmup of coursee! We played the same game as last time, "Diffle". It was fun and compared to last time, we got the word relatively quickly.

Soon after, Miss Disa had us fix up our little Miro board of all the vocabulary we learned last week. I was mostly done with it but I stayed to edit a few of the sentences and whatnot so that it'll be neater and easier to read. Right after we were done finishing up the board, Miss Disa has us do a little vocab quiz!

In summary, she put all the words we learned in Miro into the wheel of death, and what ever word pops up, the group that handled that word will have to explain the definition and how that word is used in context. It was pretty easy for me since I memorized the definitions for my words already. It was difficult to answer all the words by myself though because my teammate was Dilara and she already moved :(

It still went pretty smoothly so I can't complain too much.

Right after that, Miss made us do a little activity where we pair up words to make collocations. I had some difficulty with this one especially because I wasn't all that familiar with the different words and phrases combined. (Like- Junk bottom? What?). And especially since I had to painstakingly write down all of the definitions too... *sigh*

Nonetheless, I managed to finish up that assignment so it's not that bad anyway.

What do I want to improve? My ability to keep myself awake perhaps. And my intuition so that I can get better scores when making collocations haha

Discussing with my classmates was an option but that is also a gamble in and of itself.

That's it for now. Thank you for reading!

Blog 1.1 - Adi's inferno (jkjk)

HI HI HIIII AND WELCOME TO A NEW ACADEMIC YEARRR!!!

Oh god.

Here we go again.

There are many things to love about finally going back to school. I was getting bored and lonely at home  with my 10 cats and zero hobbies. (It's really odd to say that studying is my hobby because it makes me look like a worthless nerd with no friends and no life but the reality is I genuinely don't do anything but study.)

Not that I didn't enjoy the summer break though. I mean, I enjoy sleeping till noon, staying up late, and binging several Netflix shows but it really does get boring after a while. (Remind me to get proper hobbies for the next break.) I believe that I should be given time to rest my brain but when my brain power is not used once in a while, it starts melting and the brain goop will start leaking out of my ears. I'll be nothing but a zombie with a beating heart. Or maybe a vegetable.

Vacation was fun though. I went travelling with my dad but I did still spend most of it at home. It was pretty sad.

Anyways, new academic year, new academic me? Wrong!! New academic year, same old academic Adi. Let me tell you, being a Grade 11 does NOT change anything about me. Being a junior is really not that different than being a sophomore. Of course, we have strands now which means less subjects overall but it's still a hassle (6 periods of chemistry a week?!). And now we have our classroom on the second floor (Thank the Gods!!!!).

Only difference I can point out about me personally is how I'm waking up early and getting ready properly like doing my hair and makeup so I don't look dead when I come to school. I've started eating breakfast too and I like to think that I'm a lot healthier physical-wise compared to last year. I've gotten into the habit of being a little more independent now. It feels great!

Enough about me. How is AEP? What did we do on our first class?

We did mini mes! I love drawing so I had quite some fun to draw a mini version of myself. I had trouble deciding on a design first because i have not drawn myself in 84 years (joke lang). But I eventually started panicking when Miss gave us like 5 minutes to draw. I'm a detail oriented person so I panicked quite a bit. "I NEED TO DRAW HAIR FIRST" as I yelled to Miss when she took our papers. Apparently they will be used for a new board point system she calls the "freedom points".

I forgot to mention that we played a new wordle game before that. "Diffle" it says. It was alright. Me and the class had fun but we struggled at it for a little at the start.

What else did we do? Oh right. We started on doing vocabulary. We read through a few sentences and we decided on the words most fitting to fill in the blanks. After that, we researched the meanings and sentences that have contexts to describe the meaning of the word before putting all that information down in Miro. It was harder than it was supposed to be but Dilara was there to help me.

Alright, That's all for this week! Thank you for reading!

Nurin’s AEP Adventure #1

⋆·˚ ༘ *

Time is passing like a speed jet. I’m a senior now and that is incredibly hard to get over in my head. There’s something undeniably strange about growing up, and I’m going through every minute of it. AEP is the same, classes are comforting and chill. I’m soaking all the general knowledge I can get in AEP class and I’m going to put in extra efforts this year as it’s my last. Expectations this year will not be up the roof but at least to the point where I can reach. I hope AEP will continue to flourish my skills in multiple things and I sure will put those to use in college!!

Blog 1.1 - “New chapter?” - Huda G11

Back in AEP

We’re back! After a few months of our summer holiday, we’re finally back in school. We faced a few days off due to the typhoon but nonetheless, managed to have our first day of AEP last Wednesday. I must say, this is the first time we’ve had most of the chairs in the class occupied haha! It really was something to get used to but I guess this means our classes may or may not become more and more livelier hehehe…We started off with,  as usual, a starter game. Although I was expecting to play one of the games we played last year, Miss Disa had surprised us with the fact that she has discovered more “-dle” game. It was exciting to introduce to our new joiners of AEP our on-going tradition/routine for each lesson and I hope they get to see the fun of this class. After that, we were introduced to a new system where we had to draw “Mini-me’s” to stick on the bulletin board outside the class. This would help us keep track of our assignment and maybe any projects. I think it’s a brilliant idea to see our progress and to not procrastinate eheheh…

Before we started school, AEP students had to take a small quiz based on what they would be learning this year and our knowledge on vocabulary. I got a sense that we might be slightly more busier this year just from looking at our curriculum for this year but I appreciate how organised and well planned out the terms were. Looking forward to it! In terms of vocabulary, I’m glad we get to touch more on that topic this year as it has been something that I regularly struggle on in my writing.

A new start!

Finally entering senior high! Honestly, it’s a lot of pressure especially since we’re getting closer to applying for universities and thinking about what we want to do or be int he future. It’s something I didn’t really think much about in grades 9 and 10 so when I was told that I had to already choose a strand before grade 11, it hit me like a truck. As of now, i’m still not quite confident whether I have made the right choice as I tend to overthink about a lot of things, especially in my future.

I used to take IB so when I entered this school and heard that it was organised into strands, it kind of put me to a block as I was confused as to what subjects I desired to take since I didn’t really have that many options but I guess there’s an opportunity cost to everything we do and choose.

This year, I wish to improve more of my lifestyle in terms of health and my mental state. I plan in doing that by working on my time management, sleep schedule and day-to-day routine in hopes that it will help me improve my academic grades and overall lifestyle.

A Fresh Beginning

8th August 2023

A brand new start for a brand new grade 11 student! My second year in AEP after a very long (and well-deserved) summer break. I'm already looking forward to the Wordle brain teasers in the morning! Albeit we only have one session a week which is really unfortunate. After Miss had briefed us on the general basis of what our lessons will hold, I learned that this year is going to be a lot more rigorous and comprehensive in work. I assumed this was because our time in AEP per week was cut short. Despite that, I still can't wait to resume the more in-depth English lessons -- especially since we'll learn more about advanced vocabulary in the following semesters!

Additionally, since my other classmates don't have ESL anymore, our numbers in AEP have practically doubled this year! It's a lot more crowded (and noisy), and most of the seats are taken now. But even with all the new people in the class, I'm still looking forward to the lessons as they might bring new opportunities to work in groups (compared to last year -- which was mostly individual work).

Other than that, there isn't much else to say (otherwise I'd be repeating what most AEP students already know hehe). More students, more work, more puzzles, more vocabulary, and above all, more fun! I'm nevertheless excited to begin my second year in AEP. Can't wait to see what our future lessons hold!

PS: Enjoy this little guy while you're here. :]

Fahad's amazing blog#1

Thank you in advance for reading this. Let's talk about Aep. So far we've only had 1 class in which we did a lot of stuff. Firstly, we now have more students than ever, making our classroom more crowded and fun. On the first day of aep classes, we didn't have a chance to introduce ourselves because last week of that Wednesday, our classes got cancelled thanks to the typhoon, However, that wasn't a big deal since we have only 1 new student in our class. Going back to the first day of school, we played a game called diffle and then after we finished, we did something new I haven't done in aep before....we drew ourselves, isn't that interesting?, it is but I'm not good drawer so my drawings end up looking like a blind kid drew it, however, mine didn't turn out that bad, I mean, at least for me. Compared to my other classmates, mine was pretty bad but at least it didn't look like a drawing made by a blind kid. After we had finished drawing ourselves, miss disa made us fill in verbs in a fill In blank assignment she gave us, and then we had to find the meaning and the word's use on a website. it was pretty exhausting if you ask me but at least it helped me improve my research skills and increase my vocabulary by researching more words. I'm looking for aep this year and I hope I somewhat improve my vocabulary and, English because the grade 11 textbooks are filled w words I've never heard in my life before. Anyways, thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day ahead of you!!!!!

Diyar Wisam, Grade 9, Blog #1 :D

So my experience  at AEP was good actually I'm not gonna lie at you and it was good and having some fun with miss.Disa, and I am the only student in grade 9 who's in AEP. It's sad and lonely but I don't care because miss is with me and we are having fun. Anyways, and it's been 13 days since school started, and I get a lots of funny jokes with miss and I also took AEP in 2021. So when every class starts about AEP I have to get a warm up, and my warm up is to get to play some Wordle only once or twice. And I have to take the units that miss gave me, and you might wonder what "units" am I talking about, well units are the unit pages that I'm taking to read, for an example: In English we take reading parts and then answer questions, so it's similar to English.

And these are the things that I'm gonna take for this semester1:

-Blog #1 is done

-Vocabulary quiz

Yeah and that's it.

Thank You for visiting my Blog #1, and I hope your gonna Visite every Blog that I'm gonna publish.
