Blog 2.3 - New year, not much changes?

(have a meme drawing of me and my partner)

Happy new years! 18 days late. This New Year didn't really allow me to make any changes in my life. I definitely have things I want to improve. Plenty of them. But I find that writing it down as a goal is just worrisome and makes it less likely for me to actually fulfill them as my brain will  start labelling them as "tasks to finish."

The point is: No resolutions this year. No resolutions the past year either. I'd rather work on my own flaws and mistakes at my own pace without making it a sort of responsibility to fix.

Not much changes this year then? Not any, really. It's just that it's January and the year in my calendar is now 2023. My daily routine isn't any different. My studies didn't change. I used to be so excited for New Years and I'd always stay up with my parents to wait for the countdown but now, I realize that the change of night between December 31 and January 1 isn't any different than the change of night on every other day. Save for the barbecue and fireworks, I guess. But I'm not partial to loud parties anyway.

How about school? What have we done in AEP so far? Well, the first week of classes, we spent our time writing a planner for the rest of this half-term. It was nice to organize the lessons and sessions. I made the whole color scheme rainbow and I was flabbergasted when I found out Fahad doesn't know the order of the rainbow (Is he colorblind???). The second week was when we started to follow through with the planner. We started reviewing our essays from the last half-term and the whole topic of maps as a whole. We looked through the vocabulary, different points in the maps, the questions, etc. It was nice to review. It was a nice way to start adapting back into learning.

And then this week, we went on to writing another map essay at the first session of the week on Tuesday. It was alright. I wasn't stoked to start writing it but I didn't have a horrible time either. I guess it all just comes down to the fact that I like writing essays about maps more than graphs. Graphs are too restricting and too vague. I'm partial to pictures and visuals, after all. And now, for the two sessions of Wednesday, we're now writing the blogs. Not very extraordinary or exciting there.

But hey, as I said, not much change from this New Years. And honestly, it's not that bad. I don't usually do well with adapting and new changes, so this mundane routine, though tiring, is much better than a spontaneous one with new arrivals and challenges. I'm still fixing the same old flaws and striving for the same things. Things are bound to change of course, but I like to take things slowly and not jump into change harshly.

Anyways, this has been my blog for January 18 of the new year 2023.

Thank you for reading!

  1. I've never made new year resolutions. Each day is a new day and a chance to put things right...once in 365 days seems pointless to me🤔😵‍💫
